Toshiba has unveiled the AC100 smartbook, combining netbook and
smartphone technologies to provide a laptop-like Internet experience, a
battery life of seven days in stand-by mode, and more than 8 hours of
mixed browsing and video playback on a single charge.
The Toshiba AC100 features a 10.1-inch 1,024×600 LED backlight
display. The device is based on Android 2.1 operating system and
NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 1GHz ARM processor. It has 512MB DDR2 memory and up
to 32GB solid state drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, Bluetooth,
and a 1.3MP web camera with microphone. The AC100 has an HDMI output, a
USB and a Mini USB port, and SD/MMC card reader.
According to Toshiba, the Android based system takes less than a
second to switch the AC100 from standby to full activity mode whilst
supporting a smartphone-like ‘always-on’ capability.
The AC100 comes with a number of applications pre-installed, such as Documents To Go office suite, email and messaging clients, Opera Mobile web browser, and Toshiba Media Player. No price of Toshiba AC100 available yet.
